Mr. Basil Ammori is a Consultant General Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester, UK. He completed medical training both in Baghdad and Leeds and the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Surgery at Royal College of Surgeons of England; 2000.

Mr. Ammori has successfully performed over 400 laparoscopic bariatric procedures including gastric banding and gastric bypass (figures at October 2007) with no conversions to open surgery. He was granted a Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2000, and hs published over one hundred papers in peer-reviewed medical journals.

Mr. Ammori has a special interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery (keyhole), bariatric surgery (morbid obesity), and surgery of the gallbladder, bile duct, liver, pancreas and stomach.
