Unsightly changes around the eyes are not necessarily linked with ageing, they can occur in relatively young people.
The eye is surrounded by a layer of fat which can swell and cause eye bags. The problem is simply corrected by cosmetic eye surgery, known as a blepharoplasty.
Lower eye bag surgery involves a cut just below and to side of the lower eyelid. During lower eye bag removal, fat is removed and excess skin is trimmed to conform to the new contour. Any swelling or discoloration should disappear within 2 to 3 weeks of your eye bag surgery operation. Any dryness or itchiness of the eyes following cosmetic eye surgery will clear in a few weeks. There may be some pull on the lid at the comer of the eye following the eye bag surgery operation. This will correct itself within 2 to 5 weeks.
Upper eye bag removal is performed to remove unsightly fatty folds from the upper eye lid. This fold can fall across the eye and interfere with normal vision. The resulting scar in the upper eyelid crease is extremely fine.
