Last nights TV program “The Ugly Face of Beauty” highlights yet again the importance of asking the right questions and having a fully qualified experienced surgeon.
Dr Christian Jessen from the Embarrassing Bodies series looks into both cosmetic surgery in the UK and abroad to assess the advice, quality of surgery (or lack of) and standards of care provided.
This four-part series on Channel 4, cuts right to the edge showing some very unsightly bodies which have had botched surgery and the marketing hype adopted by some companies to clinch the deal with getting new patients on board.

As summer time approaches and the layers of clothing start to be peeled back, the question arises every year with so many women….. Do I need breast implants?? 
There are still very conflicting feelings when it comes to women and their views on breast augmentation. Some people feel cosmetic breast surgery is just pure vanity, whilst others may deem it to be a necessity to gain that self- fulfilled and confident look that every woman needs.
No matter what your personal views, unless you are a woman which would benefit from this type of surgery I would think it hard to judge the actions and desires of others.
So, what are the main questions for those ladies that are potentially interested in having breast implant surgery and do they get the advice needed to make their choice?

Corrie star Kym Marsh reveals she’s happy with her body after having both liposuction and Breast enlargement surgery.
The Corrie star, had said “I’d been thinking about doing what I did for about five years.
“After three children, I’d lost most of my boobs and had a fat deposit in my tummy that wouldn’t shift with any amount of training at the gym. Even if I was toned elsewhere, it wouldn’t go away and it affected what I would wear, like a bikini. I didn’t make the decision lightly.” » Read in full
Breast Augmentation Overtakes Liposuction in the US

A recent set of statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has indicated that breast augmentations have overtaken liposuction as the top cosmetic procedure in the US.
Over 10 million cosmetic treatments were performed in America in 2008, including both surgical and non-surgical procedures. Around 355,700 of these treatments were breast augmentations – the first time in years that anything other than liposuction has taken the top spot.
This is fairly intriguing news as, in a society inundated with warnings of obesity, you’d expect more people to be concerned about achieving a flat stomach or wobble-free thighs – though the ASAP statistics state otherwise. » Read in full
