Channel 4 The Ugly Face of Beauty

Last nights TV program “The Ugly Face of Beauty” highlights yet again the importance of asking the right questions and having a fully qualified experienced surgeon.

Dr Christian Jessen from the Embarrassing Bodies series looks into both cosmetic surgery in the UK and abroad to assess the advice, quality of surgery (or lack of) and standards of care provided.

This four-part series on Channel 4, cuts right to the edge showing some very unsightly bodies which have had botched surgery and the marketing hype adopted by some companies to clinch the deal with getting new patients on board.

Over the past decade, men have become more aware of their image and increasingly interested in how they can enhance their looks and physical appearance. Today most beauty and cosmetic stores sell full ranges of men’s cosmetic products, including anti-ageing creams for men, eye and lip-care for men and even male makeup.

This interest has also been seen through the medical sector, with increases in cosmetic surgery for men including

• Facial surgery for men
• Body surgery for men,
• Weigth loss surgery for men
• Anti ageing surgery for men

Helping men across the UK to look younger and more physically appealing.

As summer time approaches and the layers of clothing start to be peeled back, the question arises every year with so many women….. Do I need breast implants?? 

There are still very conflicting feelings when it comes to women and their views on breast augmentation. Some people feel cosmetic breast surgery is just pure vanity, whilst others may deem it to be a necessity to gain that self- fulfilled and confident look that every woman needs.

No matter what your personal views, unless you are a woman which would benefit from this type of surgery I would think it hard to judge the actions and desires of others.

The British actress Dame Helen Mirren looking amazing at age 64 said that she can totally understand women undergoing cosmetic surgery procedures to look and feel great.

The ‘Queen’ actress who is known to have a fantastic figure, has stripped on screen in several films in the past said that her confidence was recently tested when she was closely examined at the London’s Madame Tussauds museum by experts making a wax figurine of her.

She revealed TV show GMTV: “To be measured by callipers, every inch of you, it’s a bit intimidating. Every inch of you gets measured! It was absolutely like having yourself next to yourself. It was very weird.”
