Top Celebrities Influencing Plastic Surgery Procedures
January 30th, 2012
Most people want to undergo a cosmetic procedure to improve their physical appearance. And it’s not a surprise anymore that they do so to look like their celebrity idols. Indeed, plastic surgeons say that many patients mention various celebrity features they desire during their consultations.
Who are these top celebs influencing cosmetic treatments? Find out below:
Nose – Female patients who want rhinoplasty procedures (nose jobs) usually go for Natalie Portman’s nose. However, some women prefer Emma Stone’s nose. On the other hand, a great number of men admire the noses of Jude Law and Brad Pitt.
Body – A lot of women are crazy about Jennifer Aniston’s slender body (especially her abs!). Others want Giselle Bundchen’s supermodel physique. Many wish for the Kardashians sisters’ curvy figures. Men plastic surgery enthusiasts usually choose Mark Wahlberg’s buffed body.
Lips – While Angelina Jolie’s full lips have been famous in the past, many are now seeking lip procedures that will help them achieve Scarlett Johansson’s to-die-for lips. For most men, they fancy Ashton Kutcher’s smackers.
Skin – Those women who want to look younger and often go for microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser treatments, Botox shots, and other non-invasive treatments, say stars like Katy Perry, Amy Adams and Gwyneth Paltrow have youthful, flawless skin. The male population, on the other hand, want Neil Patrick Harris’ radiant skin, followed by Hayden Christensen’s.
And while it’s not a crime to want to be like your favourite stars, it’s important also to have realistic expectations—meaning not all your desired celebrity features would be attainable or natural-looking on you. Lastly, it’s a must to choose only a fully registered cosmetic surgeon (e.g. BAPRAS or BAAPS listed in the UK) to ensure safety and best results. So give Landauer Cosmetic Surgery a call today.
Is Cosmetic Surgery Right for Me?
January 6th, 2012
Cosmetic surgery seeks to modify and enhance different aspects of a person’s physical appearance. And although having a procedure done is a highly personal choice, not everyone is fit to undergo one. Determine below whether an aesthetic treatment might be the right direction for you to take.
Medical state – Before going under the knife, your surgeon needs to analyse your overall health condition to ensure your wellbeing. Certain illnesses, allergies, age, lifestyle and other factors may affect your eligibility for plastic surgery.
Purpose – People have various reasons for wanting to have cosmetic surgery, such as to improve appearance, alter a superficial flaw, boost self-esteem, etc. Plastic surgery may solve all these but to a certain extent only. You must have realistic expectations, otherwise you might get disappointed and even more frustrated.
Wallet damage – Like any major operation, cosmetic procedures come with a steep price tag. Make sure you’re financially prepared by evaluating the costs involved and getting quotations from various doctors. It’s always recommendable to not to hurry and wait until you have a budget for it, instead of choosing the cheapest option.
Risks and healing time – Risks involved and recovery time vary depending on the cosmetic treatment you want. Discuss the matter with your surgeon to determine whether or not the possible complications and recuperation period are acceptable to you.
Keep in mind that the results of cosmetic surgery are often irreversible. That’s why you have to be 100% certain that you’re physically and emotionally healthy—and completely ready before resorting to the knife.
Any fully trained and accredited cosmetic plastic surgeon (such as BAPRAS and BAAPS members) will fully explore each of these areas with you during the initial consultation.
Cosmetic Surgery -Why People Go Under the Knife
December 5th, 2011
Cosmetic surgery is the talk of the town lately, especially now that more and more people are undertaking various aesthetic treatments. And you definitely can’t blame them for desiring to improve their appearance because plastic surgery offers numerous benefits and positive effects. Continue reading below to find out more about cosmetic surgery benefits.
Physical benefits – Cosmetic procedures can help fix many physical defects due to injury or accident. This is also applicable to people suffering from physical deformities, such as mastectomy patients, those with cleft palate/lip or scarring, and others. Of course, plastic surgery can help folks who simply want to correct superficial or minor imperfections to improve various physical characteristics. Wanted results are also fast, even though patients may initially look and feel unpleasant because of bruising, swelling, and or scarring.
Mental/emotional benefits – Most often than not, the psychological advantages of cosmetic surgery weigh much more than its physical benefits. For example, if you extremely dislike your physical appearance because of a particular flaw, then aesthetic procedures can repair or enhance it to make you look and feel good about yourself. Also, fixing different body problems via cosmetic surgery can help boost your self-esteem, which then gives you a more optimistic outlook in life. And while most psychologists and surgeons agree that plastic surgery isn’t a solution to low self-confidence or insecurity, it can often help uplift a person’s overall emotional health.
Indeed, cosmetic surgery has many perks. However, it’s crucial to remember that no treatment can completely repair a person’s life. Sure, it can help with physical flaws and confidence issues, but in the end, it’s still the same person who goes in and out of the clinic.
Remember cosmetic plastic surgery is a life-changing decision and hence should not be taken lightly. As a rule of thumb, do your research first before booking any cosmetic surgical or non-surgical treatment. And of course, choose only certified plastic surgeons to perform your desired procedure by talking to Landauer Cosmetic Surgery.
His and Hers Plastic Surgery- Lauren Pope and Kirk Norcross Get Complementary Nose Jobs
November 28th, 2011
Couples plastic surgery is definitely on the rise lately. And just last July, Lauren Pope and Kirk Norcross, the reality show lovebirds from The Only Way Is Essex, have undergone matching rhinoplasty in a London hospital.
Neither lovebird wanted any drastic change to be done, although Lauren did confess that it was the second time she had her nose done. She used to have a big bump (now permanently gone) after walking into a glass door. Kirk, on the other hand, resolved to go under the knife after his nose was broken last year during a boxing fight with co-star, Mark Wright. He also simply wanted a smaller nose and to be able to breathe easier. The couple was delighted with their “new” noses and overall look.
Unlike other celebrities who are denial kings and queens or are discreet about such cosmetic procedures, the duo were far from being shy about their recent operation. In fact, they even publicized it afterwards by happily posting updates on Twitter about their experience—and how they were recovering.
The same day after the said ‘his and hers’ surgery, rumours sparked that the couple may be soon getting engaged, as they were spotted checking out a jeweller’s shop window. Unfortunately, gossip stories got it all wrong. Because they also revealed their split up the same day they unveiled their £4,000 matching rhinoplasty in a celebrity magazine. It was said that Kirk apparently no longer felt devoted to Lauren and breaking up for good was the right path to take.
Healthcare Organisations Denounce Cosmetic Surgery Lottery Prizes
November 21st, 2011
Many healthcare organisations in the UK are condemning cosmetic surgery lottery draws that are quickly becoming popular. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and Independent Healthcare Advisory Services (IHAS) have disapproved aesthetic procedures like breast augmentation, botox and face lifts being offered as prizes in contests, online deals, loyalty card schemes and the like.
Medical professionals believe plastic surgery marketing gimmicks like these are persuading people to get procedures they don’t need or want. Their worries emerged shortly after the launch of My Big Fat Plastic Surgery Prize Draw. Sponsored by a cosmetic surgery group, the event offers prizes that range from boob jobs, botox and fillers, semi-permanent makeup, teeth whitening and others.
While many people are living with superficial flaws, health authority groups are firm on not offering cosmetic treatments as a commodity prize. Ex-president of BAAPS Adam Searle stated that people who are making permanent choices based on propaganda, thrill and emotion, are putting themselves in great danger. Besides, cosmetic surgery enthusiasts are some of the most vulnerable patients, and thus, they require protection against greedy advertising advocates.
And though, you can freely participate in such raffles and competitions, it’s best to avoid these kinds of events. Try not to be persuaded no matter how convincing and truthful they may seem, as many of them are just misleading publicity stunts.
Remember that plastic surgery is a life-changing decision and hence should not be taken lightly. As a rule of thumb, do your research first before booking any cosmetic surgical or non-surgical treatment. And of course, choose only certified plastic surgeons to perform your desired procedure by talking to Landauer Cosmetic Surgery.
