Post weight loss patients boost abdominoplasties
Reports of a boost in the volume of abdominoplasties – also known as tummy tucks – being performed on patients who have undergone extensive weight loss have emerged, leading some to think that the nation’s obesity problem may not be as bad as we are being told.
While it’s very clear that Britain does need to watch its weight in a time of packaged foods and unhealthy lifestyles – and we see examples of this at Landauer on a daily basis – a lot of the media pays far less attention to those people who are going to the efforts to lose weight and become fitter, healthier individuals.
Weight loss surgery is a significant operation that can change the life of the patient when a gastric bypass or lap band surgery is carried out and they make the efforts to stick with their weight loss programme once the treatment is over. The volume of weight that eventually disappears can be as much as twice the person’s natural healthy weight, even more. Then there are the patients that lose weight without surgery who find that instead of the taut, defined bodies they were hoping for, loose skin becomes the new bane of their lives and then search for a way to achieve the body they desire.
Abdominoplasties are an excellent option for those hoping to tighten up their stomachs following significant weight loss and it’s encouraging to see that the volume of these operations taking place following such life-changing endeavours is increasing week by week. Because although it’s true that our country does need to evaluate its relationship with food and exercise, it’s good to see that some people are going to huge efforts to correct past mistakes and achieve the healthy body they deserve.
