Migraine relief through cosmetic surgery
It’s always good to be aware of the myriad benefits that cosmetic surgery can have for patients. Sometimes these benefits get lost in media frenzies, which can overshadow the abundant evidence in plastic surgery’s favour.
Cosmetic surgery is used every day to correct parts of the body that people are unhappy with. It began as a reconstructive surgery to help people with severe injuries get back on their feet and has since developed into an industry that allows people to boost their self esteem through the correction of facial or body features that cause a patient distress – and that’s not to mention the life-saving weight loss surgery like gastric bypasses or lap band surgeries that help to take people out of the danger zones of obesity and get them back on track to obtain a healthy weight.
Treatment can be used to address a variety of other problems, too. Recently, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons conducted some research into the connection between forehead lifts and migraine relief. It was discovered that, by removing the muscles that cause migraines – also achieving the effect of a smoother, younger-looking forehead – the problem was eradicated and patients no longer suffered from these horrible headaches.
Some people are lucky enough to go through life suffering from barely any of these headaches at all, but those who have experienced them will know they are debilitating. Unfortunately, some people experience migraines as often as every day, chronically, with around three quarters of them being women according to the ASPS.
Although many people associate plastic surgery with mainly aesthetic desires, there’s a lot more to it than that – including some pretty astounding medical reasons.
