Research your options when you choose a plastic surgeon
When it comes to cosmetic surgery and the media, the relationship is a difficult one and scare tactic headlines make frequent appearances. However, as surgical treatments can be harmful if botched or poorly performed it’s crucial to only ever put your procedure in the hands of an experienced, reputable surgeon. In this way the media can actually help people considering cosmetic surgery, as it sometimes exposes those who perform cosmetic procedures without the proper qualifications.
It’s not very well known, but cosmetic surgery can actually be performed by any doctor and not just those with specialised training. While this may be good news for those with minor mishaps that a quick set of stitches can repair, major procedures should not be considered without careful research regarding which surgeon you choose to perform them. No matter how much cheaper you can get your surgery for with an inexperienced or unknown surgeon, the financial saving is not worth the potential risks involved.
At Landauer, we only represent consultant plastic surgeons that belong to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) or the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS). Because we’re used to working only with the best, most trustworthy plastic surgeons, it really horrifies me when I hear about people undergoing potentially life-threatening surgery with an inexperienced surgeon just for the sake of saving some cash.
When you’re planning to enhance your looks and life with cosmetic surgery, it should be worth paying to ensure you’re getting the best treatment available. After all, you wouldn’t trust a poorly qualified dentist with your teeth, or an uncertified mechanic with your car, why would your body be any different?
