Men increasingly turning to cosmetic surgery
There’s been a lot of press in the last few months about the increasing trend for men to undergo plastic surgery. As having surgical treatment for women is well on its way to general acceptance now – and plenty of advocates are showing their support – it looks like a similar trend for male cosmetic surgery is beginning to bloom.
Although it’s typical to see men undergoing treatments like weight loss surgery for the same reasons as women – on grounds of an endangered health – it’s interesting to see where the preferences that the sexes have converge and where they diverge when it comes to choosing ways in which to change their look.
Just like many women, a large number of men find that they are unhappy with the appearance of their chests. It’s fairly common for some men to store fat in their chests which can lead to an unflattering look and, just as women can get breast reductions, men can also undergo chest reductions to remove the unsightly fat and give them a more sculpted look. It’s also interesting that many men are choosing to undergo liposuction in the abdomen, another popular treatment with women.
However, one of the most common cosmetic procedures that men are opting for more than women is nose surgery, or rhinoplasty, which involves the correction of a misshapen nose and the creation of a more desirable shape and size. They also tend to go for ear surgery more than women, undergoing treatments to pull back protruding ears – perhaps hair length has something to do with it!
There are lots of options available for men who want to change their appearance and it’s good news that the issue is becoming far less taboo and that as opinions change it has become apparent that men don’t have to worry about undergoing cosmetic treatment any more than women do.
